Does the Christian have any special advantage in the time of trouble and turmoil? Yes! In speaking of difficult times, the Apostle Paul said, “But let us, who are the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him” (I Thess. 5:8-10). Life can be very difficult, but the believer always has the presence and promises of God to sustain him. This is true both for time and eternity.
No matter what happens, the believer can look forward to God’s sustaining grace. The great promise is that, even when we die, we will live together with Him for eternity. Fortunately, nothing can separate the believer from the love of God. It is this truth of His presence and promise that makes even the very difficult times to be filled with hope. Yes, the believer does have a very special advantage in times of trouble and turmoil.
